Decided to rewrite it in light of some recent information I read.
So this is in town. I don't like living statues, clowns or mimes they creep me out. However, they tend to stand still and I love how they interact with the public (not me).
The opening night was today and they promised spectacular things, but they only delivered some lame jokes.
"From the Jansplein they will be transported by a parade to their stages. In a way that you should not miss." – Taken from their website and translated by Google translate because this event is so international the website is only in Dutch.
The parade was a tractor/golf cart hybrid that pulled an open trailer with all the living statues in it. They stopped along the way to offload them. Impressive. Wow. Glad I didn't miss THAT.
So I went back for the main event. They were distributing flyers at very logical points but we entered from the side so, yeah. Finally obtained a flyer. Had a route, decided to go the wrong way, lost track of the route, went shopping.
At this point I realised the statues from the night before were the winners so they wouldn't join in the same costumes!
We joined the route at a random point, most statues were having a break which was funny to see because they could barely move.
At this point we saw most of the route, except the part by the river and the children's section, we went there, saw a large part of it and lay in the sun for a while.
So I got home and today I found out we missed not a few, but ALL the winning statues??? We walked two hours of the route! (Well, shopped for a bit, but hey).
My assumption was they would stand on their designated place between 13 h and 16h (give or take some breaks). But some people seemed to move around, places stayed empty. This entire thing was very confusing.
The only guy that was there, like always was the accordion player next to the Burger King. He's always day, day, night, summer, winter. To me, he won the competition.
